Family Boy, written and directed by Mithun Manickam, will open in theatres on 11 December 2026, the makers announced on 26 October 2026 as actor Karthi unveiled the film's teaser on his X account. Manickam, his production house Mechanic Pictures and publicist Yuvraaj shared the same date with the teaser link that evening.
The launch
Divo Music, the label releasing the soundtrack, had announced on 23 October that Karthi would reveal the teaser and the release date at 6 PM on 26 October. In his post, Karthi wished Manickam and the team well, and Mechanic Pictures thanked him for backing a new team.
The makers' posts name Millenials Movie Production LLP as the production banner and Balloon Pictures as the release banner. The official teaser card bills the film as "A Mechanic Original", with Manickam credited for story, screenplay, dialogue and direction.
Cast and music
The teaser, uploaded on Divo Music's YouTube channel, lists Mithun Manickam, Anugraha, Anitha Sampath, Saran and Nikhila Sankar in its title. The makers have not detailed the characters each actor plays.
Composer Nirmal JP called Family Boy his debut when he shared the teaser. Manickam, whose X profile describes him as an actor, director and producer, lists Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum and Aivaraattam there among his earlier projects.
The story, in the makers' words
The makers have shared little about the plot. Their Tamil caption for the teaser traces the hero through loss, a fall and a fight before he wins by grasping the meaning of life.
