This policy explains what information likit.in collects when you read our website — LIKIT Cinema, LIKIT Literature and LIKIT Tech — how it is used, and the choices you have. likit.in is operated by Lingo Kitty Solutions LLP, Tamil Nadu, India ("Likit", "we", "us").

1. Information we collect

  • Technical information (server logs). Like every website, our server records your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, the page that sent you here and the time. We use these logs only to run the site, keep it secure and fix problems.
  • Likes. When you click Like on a story, we set a cookie named lk_vid containing a random number, so the same browser cannot like a story twice. It contains no personal details, and we store only a scrambled (hashed) form of it with the like.
  • Your theme choice. If you switch between the light and dark theme, the choice is stored in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to us.
  • Emails you send us. If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply and keep a record of the conversation.
  • Usage statistics (Google Analytics). Which pages are visited, how visitors arrive and move through the site, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location (city or country) — see section 5.
  • Advertising information. Google and its partners may collect information through cookies and similar technologies when ads are shown — see section 4.

We do not ask you to create an account, we have no comment or sign-up forms, and we do not collect entries or fees for the competitions we report on. We do not sell personal information.

2. How we use information

  • to run, maintain and secure the website;
  • to count likes and remember your theme choice;
  • to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it (Google Analytics);
  • to reply to messages, corrections and complaints;
  • to show advertising that pays for the site, and to prevent advertising fraud (through Google — section 4);
  • to meet our legal obligations.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

  • Our own: the lk_vid likes cookie (kept up to two years) and the theme choice in local storage. Both are needed only for those features.
  • Google Analytics cookies (for example _ga and _ga_ECR8T3ZGVY, kept up to two years): count visits and tell new visitors from returning ones (section 5).
  • Google advertising cookies: set by Google and its partners to show and measure ads (section 4).

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you delete them, the site still works, but a story you liked can be liked again from the same browser.

4. Advertising — Google AdSense

likit.in uses Google AdSense to show advertisements. Google's AdSense code is loaded on our public pages, and ads appear once Google has approved the site. Google, as a third-party vendor, and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, to measure them, to limit how often you see the same ad and, depending on your settings and choices, to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. This can involve information such as your IP address, browser or device identifiers and how you interact with ads.

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to likit.in and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. Turning off personalised ads does not remove all ads; you may still see ads that are not personalised.
  • How Google uses information from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. More about Google's advertising technologies: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
  • Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time from that message.

We may also show our own advertising banners (marked Advertisement or Sponsored). These are images hosted on likit.in; when you click one, we count the click (without recording who clicked) and send you to the advertiser's website, which has its own privacy policy.

5. Website statistics — Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (Google Analytics 4), a service of Google, to understand how readers use likit.in: for example, which stories are read, how visitors find the site, and whether they use a phone or a computer. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, time on page, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We see only combined statistics, not who you are.

6. Other services we use

  • Google Fonts: our pages load fonts from Google's servers, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page loads. See the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting: the site and its server logs are hosted with our server provider.
  • Share buttons: the Facebook, X and WhatsApp buttons are plain links. Nothing is sent to those services unless you click one; then that service's own privacy policy applies.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the site, our users or others from abuse or fraud.

7. Links to other websites

Our stories link to their sources, and ads link to advertisers. Other websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

8. How long we keep information, and security

We keep server logs and emails only as long as needed for the purposes above, including security and legal record-keeping, and then delete them. Likes are kept with the story they belong to. We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no website can guarantee complete security.

9. Your choices and requests

You can delete or block cookies in your browser, control personalised ads as described in section 4, and opt out of Google Analytics as described in section 5. Depending on the law where you live, you may also be able to ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, or object to some uses of it. Write to admin@likit.in; we may need to check your request before acting on it.

10. Children

likit.in is a general-interest news site for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to admin@likit.in and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our website, services or legal obligations change. The date at the bottom of this page shows when it was last changed.
