Today, 16 October 2026, marks the birth anniversary of writer, dramatist and actor Crazy Mohan. Speaking to Chennai Times, his brother Maadhu Balaji said he and his team are starting a year-long tribute to celebrate Mohan's work on stage and screen.
Balaji tied the tribute to Crazy Creations, the theatre troupe associated with Mohan's plays, which he said is in its 48th year. According to the same interview, the plan is to take Crazy Creations performances to audiences across Tamil Nadu and in Bengaluru, and to reach people who have not seen the plays before.
What the anniversary weekend is set to include
Chennai Times reported Balaji saying actor Kamal Haasan will be present for a tribute event on Saturday, 17 October 2026, with a felicitation and a staging of the play Chocolate Krishna. In that interview, Balaji also named Chennai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Hosur, Salem and Madurai among the cities the team intends to visit, and said a grand finale is being planned for 16 October 2027 at the Music Academy.
A separate report in the neighbourhood weekly Thiru Mylais Star, covering the week of 8 to 14 October 2026, said Crazy Creations and Maadhu Balaji planned two anniversary plays: Chocolate Krishna on 17 October at Vaani Mahal in T. Nagar, and Meesai Aanalum Manaivi on 18 October at the Music Academy mini hall on TTK Road in Alwarpet, both at 7 pm, with Kamal Haasan named as chief guest for the evening. The weekly described the shows as ticketed and pointed readers to BookMyShow and the contact numbers it printed.
Those two outlets overlap on Chocolate Krishna and Kamal Haasan's involvement around 17 October. They differ on venue detail and on whether an 18 October second play is part of the announced weekend, so Likit is reporting each claim with its source rather than merging them into one unattributed schedule.
Why Chocolate Krishna sits at the centre of the tribute
In the Chennai Times interview, Balaji called performing Chocolate Krishna for this anniversary "very special", noting that Crazy Mohan had featured in hundreds of performances of the play and that the troupe has continued staging it after him. The Hindu had earlier this year quoted Balaji saying Crazy Mohan's 75th birthday falls on 16 October and that the wish is for the plays to reach more people.
What has not been posted on an official handle yet
Likit could not locate a verified Crazy Creations or Maadhu Balaji post on X that locks the full year-long tour calendar, ticket links for every city, or a single official line-up beyond what the print interviews describe. No producer-style press note listing every stop was attached to the desk items for this story.
Likit will update when Crazy Creations or the family publishes a full tour list or a fresh announcement for the October weekend shows.
