Vijay Antony announced on X on 10 October 2026 that Appa Kutty will open in theatres worldwide on 6 November 2026, calling it a Diwali release. The Telugu version, titled Nanakutty in the same post, shares that date. Mu Maran wrote and directed the film, and Vijay Antony also composed the music, according to the announcement, which names Preethi Asrani as co-star.
Earlier date of 16 October
This replaces an earlier plan. On 22 September 2026, Vijay Antony had announced that Appa Kutty would open worldwide on 16 October. On 23 September he posted the same 16 October date for Nanakutty. The 10 October update did not give a reason for the change.
Sharing the date with Scene
Appa Kutty now shares 6 November with Suriya's Scene, directed by Jithu Madhavan. Zhagaram Studios has promoted Scene for a worldwide theatrical release from 6 November, and 2D Entertainment has marked the same Diwali window in its own posts. That makes two Tamil films with official dates locked for that Friday from their makers.
What is confirmed, and what is not
Confirmed from Vijay Antony's own posts: Appa Kutty and Nanakutty open worldwide on 6 November 2026, Mu Maran wrote and directed, Vijay Antony composed the music, and Preethi Asrani co-stars. Scene is separately confirmed for the same date by Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment.
Not announced yet for Appa Kutty: a trailer date, soundtrack release details, an official synopsis, advance bookings or screen counts. Likit will update this page when the makers share more.
