Rajinikanth's fans held temple rituals in Kovilpatti, Thiruparankundram and Thirumangalam ahead of the 15 October 2026 release of Jailer 2 (2026), praying for the film's success at two temples and at a shrine built for the actor. Footage from all three towns was shared on 14 October, the eve of the release.
Kovilpatti
At the Sornamalai Kathirvel Murugan temple in Kovilpatti, a group of the actor's admirers performed angapradakshinam. In this vow, devotees lie down and roll their bodies along the path that circles a shrine.
Thiruparankundram
Fans at an Amman temple in Thiruparankundram, Madurai, combined the same rolling vow with mann soru, a practice in which the meal is eaten directly from the ground.
A shrine to the actor in Thirumangalam
In Thirumangalam, Madurai, a fan named Karthik led special prayers at the Arulmigu Rajini Temple, a shrine dedicated to the star. Speaking on camera on 14 October, Karthik said the group cut a cake printed with a series of Rajinikanth's pictures and broke coconuts as part of the rituals.
