Director Puri Jagannadh has completed filming on Slumdog – 33 Temple Road, his film with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. Puri Connects, the filmmaker's production banner, announced the wrap on X on 17 October 2026, promising audiences "a rollercoaster of EMOTIONS on the BIG SCREENS" and saying a release date announcement would come soon.
The banner did not give a date or a month in that post. Its earlier promotions, around the teaser in June 2026, had billed the film as arriving in cinemas in 2026.
Five languages, three producers
According to the makers' posts, the film releases in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam. Puri Jagannadh produces it alongside Charmme Kaur, who presents the project, and JB NarayanRao Kondrolla.
Harshavardhan Rameshwar is composing the music. At the teaser launch, the composer said the soundtrack would be a different album that would surprise listeners, as the banner summarised his speech.
Characters revealed so far
Two cast members have been introduced with character glimpses. Tabu plays Gauri Hegde, unveiled in a video on 10 August 2026 that the banner promoted with the words "FEARLESS. POWERFUL. COURAGEOUS".
Zarina Wahab followed on 28 September 2026 as Zubeidaa, described by the makers as humble, loving and selfless. Samyuktha is also part of the cast, though her role has not been revealed.
The road so far
The team launched the teaser at an event in Chennai on 8 June 2026, with Vijay Sethupathi in attendance. Puri Connects put out versions of the teaser in all 5 languages.
Sethupathi shared the teaser on his own X account the same day, with the line "A tale of survival, rage, and destiny awaits." As of 18 October 2026, the wrap update had been posted by the production banner, not by the lead actor.
